Marshall 18U splits pair of games against Watertown

WATERTOWN (S.D.) — The Marshall 18U baseball team earned a doubleheader split against Watertown (S.D.) on Tuesday, falling in game one 12-7 before bouncing back with a 10-3 victory in game two.

In the opener, Chase Douglas led the way for Marshall with a 3 for 4 day at the plate while Peyton Grant added a hit and three RBI and Matt Hmielewski, AJ Toulouse and Jacob Hughes all had a hit and an RBI.

Jack Bly took the loss on the mound, going three innings while allowing 10 runs on nine hits and striking out one.

In the nightcap, Toulouse led the way for Marshall with a 4 for 5 day at the plate with three RBI while Bly added two hits and two RBI and Hughes had a pair of hits and an RBI. Josh Baker and Jordan Mernaugh each added a hit and two RBI to add to the Marshall effort.

Jaden Pearcy earned the victory on the mound, going 5 1/3 innings while allowing two runs on six hits and striking out two.

Marshall 18U (2-3) will face Harrisburg (S.D.) in a doubleheader at 5 and 7 p.m. on Thursday at Legion Field.
