SMSU GOLF: SMSU’s Hannah Kohls named NSIC Golfer of the Week

BURNSVILLE — Southwest Minnesota State University junior Hannah Kohls was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Golfer of the Week on Monday following her play in a pair of tournaments last week in Arizona.

Kohls, a native of Forest Lake, tied a school record last Friday with a 1-under-par 71 to capture medalist honors at the 18-hole SMSU Spring Challenge at Coldwater Golf Course in Avondale. She is the third SMSU player, and first since 2006, to shoot a 1-under-par score.

Earlier in the week, Kohls tied for sixth out of 48 players at the SMSU Spring Invite played at Wigwam Resort Red Course in Litchfield Park. She shot rounds of 3-over 75 and 5-over 77 to finish with an 8-over 152.

Kohls, a 2017 graduate of Forest Lake High School, finished the 2019-20 season with a stroke average of 79.4 in 13 rounds.
