SMSU GOLF: Kohls places fourth to pace SMSU to sixth place finish in Bemidji
BEMIDJI – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s golf team finished in sixth place Tuesday as play concluded at the 10-team Bemidji State Tracy Lane Memorial Tournament at the par 72 Bemidji Town & Country Club.
SMSU shot a final round 334 to finish with a two-round total of 103-over-par 679.
Junior Hannah Kohls led the Mustangs with a fourth place finish out of 59 players with a 17-over 161, following a round of 8-over 80 on Tuesday. It was her second career top five finish.
Sophomore Anna Davison shot a 12-over 84 today and finished tied for 12th at 23-over 167.
Freshman Sally Gallaher concluded her first collegiate tournament shooting an 11-over 83 on Tuesday and finished tied for 21st at 27-over 171.
Also competing for SMSU in the starting line-up were sophomore Anneke Weg and freshman Courtni Frank. Weg shot a 15-over 87 on Tuesday to tie for 37th at 36-over 180, while Frank carded a 16-over 88 today and tied for 39th at 38-over 182.
Freshmen Sydney Noel and Natalie Bohnert both played as individuals during the tournament with Bohnert finishing tied for 53rd at 57-over 201, while Noel finished 55th at 58-over 202.
Augustana captured the team title with a 58-over 634, finishing 31 strokes ahead of second place Minot State.
Augustana’s Hannah Hankinson won the individual title by nine shots shooting 4-over 148.
Southwest Minnesota State returns to action next Monday and Tuesday competing at the two-day, 36-hole Concordia-St. Paul Classic at The Jewell Golf Club in Lake City.
