PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall swimming rolls past Willmar

WILLMAR — The Marshall swimming and diving team kept their unbeaten start to the season alive on Tuesday with a 114-72 win over Willmar.

The Tigers recorded a first place finish in 10 of the 12 events.

Nyssa Bentz won the 200 individual medley in 2:19.08. She also placed first in the 100 butterfly (1:02.12).

Kaylie Stucke took first place in 500 freestyle with a time of 5:41.60, while Lydia Hurst won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:09.58.

Amelie Schmidtke took first place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.87 seconds and added a win in 100 freestyle (56.86 seconds).

Mansi Bell won the 100 backstroke in 1:09.41.

Bell, Emma Beavers Maddie Larson and Clara Bader completed the 200 medley relay in 2:05.06 for first place.

Schmidtke, Stucke, Hurst and Bentz combined to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:43.36. Bader replaced Stucke in the 400 freestyle relay team that finished in first place at 3:50.45.

Marshall (3-0) will host Mound Westonka/Holy Family on Oct. 1 for Parents’ Night.

Boys soccer

Marshall 2

WORTHINGTON — Worthington defeated Marshall 3-2 in boys soccer action on Tuesday.

The Tigers got on the board 20 minutes into the match, as Mazin Abdallah scored on a header off a free kick. Mookae Stee added the second goal of the game for Marshall two minutes into the second half.

Marshall assistant coach Antonio Correa said that despite dominating the middle of the field with passing, the Tigers lacked aggression on 50-50 balls.

“We had our fair chances,” Correa said. “We outshot them, but just couldn’t finish easy goals.”

Marshall will travel to New Ulm on Thursday.

COTTONWOOD — The No. 3-ranked Minneota Vikings swept the Lakeview Lakers 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-15) on Tuesday.

Natalee Rolbiecki led the Vikings with 12 kills and three blocks.

Morgan Hennen added nine kills and seven digs in the win, while McKenna Yost facilitated the offense with 36 set assists.

LeeAnn Stensrud led the Lakers with 14 kills and 13 digs.

Minneota (17-1) will host Yellow Medicine East on Thursday, while Lakeview (14-3) will travel to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Thursday.

Against Montevideo, Emily Johnson fell to Montevideo’s Kori Douglas 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 1 singles spot while Cherish Hammer fell to Montevideo’s Emily Brace 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 singles, Macie Sik fell to Montevideo’s Lauren Kluver 6-3, 6-0 while Kyra Kvam fell to Montevideo’s Cami Myers 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 4 spot.
