AMATEUR BASEBALL: Lamberton earns split to begin Region 2C tournament

LAMBERTON — The Lamberton Long Sox defeated the Hanska Lakers 7-1 in the second game of Region 2C round-robin action on Sunday.

Through two of five games, Lamberton sits at 1-1 in Region 2C. The top three teams in the region will advance to state.

Johnny Pistulka got the win on the mound for Lamberton. In eight innings, he allowed just one run on four hits with seven strikeouts. Essig draftee Eric Prokosch pitched the ninth inning and struck out two batters.

Tyler Reiner led the Long Sox offense, going 2 for 2 with an RBI.

Springfield 5, Lamberton 3

SPRINGFIELD — Lamberton fell to Springfield 5-3 in the Region 2C opener on Saturday.

Johnny Pistulka went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI to lead the way for the Long Sox. Holden Salfer also drove in a run in the loss.

Searles draftee Nick DeWanz took the mound for Lamberton, going 5 1/3 innings and striking out three batters.

Lamberton (22-9) travels to New Ulm on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
