SMSU GOLF: SMSU’s Weg named WGCA All-American Scholar

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Southwest Minnesota State University freshman golfer Anneke Weg has been selected to the 2018-19 Women’s Golf Coaches Association’s (WGCA) All-America Scholar Team for Division II.

A total of 1,097 women golfers in Division I, II, and III earned the honor. The criteria for selection to the All-Scholar Team include a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average.

Weg, a native of Worthington, recorded a GPA of 3.89 in biology. She finished her freshman season with a stroke average of 90.7 in 19 rounds. Her best round of the season was a 10-over 81 in the first round of the Mustang Invite in September.

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women’s collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition.

Today, the WGCA represents over 600 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
