AMATEUR BASEBALL: Lamberton takes opening game of series against Essig

LAMBERTON – The Lamberton amateur baseball team defeated Essig 4-1 in the opening game of their best of three series on Friday night.

Neil Eichten led the way for the Long Sox with a 4 for 4 day at the plate with an RBI while Colby Pack went 3 for 4 with an RBI and Isaac Jenniges added a pair of hits.

Johnny Pistulka earned the victory on the mound, going eight innings while allowing one run on four hits and striking out 12. He also recorded his 1,000 amateur strikeout in the win.

Lamberton (20-7) takes a 1-0 lead in the series and will play Game 2 against Essig on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Essig.
