AMATEUR BASEBALL: Area teams earn playoff seedings

MARSHALL – This week, postseason play for amateur baseball will get underway and multiple area teams begin their quest to punch their tickets to the state tournament.

Region 13C

The Milroy Irish earned the No. 1 seed and will face No. 8 Lakefield in a best of three series beginning today at 7:30 p.m. at Irish Yard. Luverne earned the No. 2 seed and will face No. 7 Jackson in a best of three series beginning today at 7:30 p.m. in Luverne while No. 3 Windom will face No. 6 Hadley. The Buttermakers will begin their best of three series today at 7:30 p.m. in Pipestone. Finally, Fairmont earned the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 Pipestone in a best of three series beginning today at 7:30 p.m. in Fairmont.

Region 4C

Regal earned the No. 1 seed from the County Line League and will face the winner of Paynesville (No. 5 CL) and the Milroy Yankees (No. 4 Corn Belt League) on Sunday at noon in Sacred Heart. The Yankees and Paynesville will play on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart. Starbuck (No. 3 CL) will face Willmar (No. 6 CB) on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in Bird Island while Wabasso (No. 8 CB) will face Raymond (No. 2 CB) on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart.

New London/Spicer (No. 2 CL) will face Granite Falls (No. 7 CB) on Saturday at noon in Bird Island while Marshall (No. 3 CB) will face Atwater (No. 6 CL) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Bird Island. Bird Island (No. 1 CB) will face the winner of Sacred Heart (No. 5 CB) and Norway Lake (No. 4 CL) on Sunday at noon at Bird Island. Sacred Heart and Norway Lake will play on Saturday at noon at Sacred Heart.

Region 9C

Dumont earned the No. 1 seed and will face No. 8 Clinton on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Madison while Chokio earned the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 Cottonwood on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Madison. Morris earned the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 Hancock on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Madison while Minneota earned the No. 2 seed and will face No. 7 Dawson on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Madison.

New Ulm earned the No. 1 seed as well as an automatic berth in the Region 2C tournament by having the best regular season league record. Hanska earned the No. 2 seed and will face No. 11 Courtland in a best of three series beginning Friday at 7:30 p.m in Hanska while Springfield earned the No. 3 seed will face No. 10 Searles in a best of three series beginning on Friday at 8 p.m. in Searles. Lamberton earned the No. 4 seed and will face No. 9 Essig in a best of three series beginning Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Lamberton. Stark earned the No. 5 seed and will face No. 8 Leavenworth in a best of three series beginning on Friday at 8 p.m. in Stark while Gibbon earned the No. 6 seed and will face No. 7 Sleepy Eye in best of three series beginning on Friday at 8 p.m. in Sleepy Eye.
