WEDNESDAY AMATEUR BASEBALL: Marshall uses strong start to take down Wabasso, 9-4

WABASSO – The Marshall amateur baseball team defeated Wabasso 9-4 on Wednesday.

Connor Winkelman and Alex Thompson led the way for the A’s with a three-hit performance and an RBI each while Ryan VanMoer and Tyler Schwagel each added a pair of hits and an RBI.

Rusty Swanson earned the victory on the mound, going six innings while allowing three runs on six hits and striking out one.

Devan Liebl led the way for Wabasso with a 2 for 5 day at the plate with an RBI while Josh Guetter added a hit and an RBI and Sam Guetter, Kenric Baune and Tony Franta each had a hit.

Ryan Liebl took the loss on the mound, going two innings while allowing nine runs on nine hits.

Marshall will face Raymond on Sunday at 5 p.m. while Wabasso will face Willmar on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
