AREA BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Minneota legion gets tripped up by Granite Falls

MINNEOTA – The Minneota legion baseball team fell to Granite Falls 9-4 on Monday.

Tate Walerius led the way for Minneota with a 2 for 2 day at the plate while Thomas Hennen, Sam Buysse, Jaymes Moon and Grady Moorse all added a hit.

Walerius took the loss on the mound, going three innings while allowing four runs on four hits and striking out one.

Ayden Friese led the way for Granite Falls with a 3 for 4 day at the plate with an RBI while Dalton Anderson added a pair of hits and an RBI and Angel Jimenez had three RBI.

Jimenez earned the victory in relief, going two innings while allowing no runs on no hits.

BIRD ISLAND – The Marshall amateur baseball team fell to Bird Island 7-5 on Sunday.

Zach Olson and Logan Tomasek led the way for the A’s with four hits apiece while Braden Meyer, Ryan VanMoer and Jordon Kontz each added two hits and Ryan Schwagel and Zach Thompson each recorded two RBI.

Tomasek took the loss on the mound, going 6.1 innings while allowing six runs on seven hits and striking out one.

GRANITE FALLS – The Granite Falls amateur baseball team defeated Wabasso 4-0 on Sunday and saw a milestone in the process.

Kilowatts starting pitcher Colten Vien tossed a no-hitter against Wabasso, striking out 10 in nine innings of work.

Cam Vien led the way offensively for the Kilowatts with a 2 for 4 day at the plate with three RBI while Jordan Odegard, Tyler Dammann, Craig Listul, Markus Kranz and Colten Vien each added a hit.

Kyle Lechner took the loss for Wabasso, going 5.2 innings while allowing three runs on four hits and striking out one.

Granite Falls will face Willmar on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. while Wabasso will face Eagle Lake on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

COLD SPRING – The Marshall Junior Legion Black 16U baseball team earned a pair of victories at the Cold Spring Tournament on Saturday, defeating Paynesville 8-5 and Litchfield 15-10.

Against Paynesville, Noah Blomme led the way for Marshall with a 1 for 4 day at the plate with three RBI while Brock Schultz had a hit and two RBI and Charlie Jacobson added a pair of hits.

Jacobson earned the victory on the mound, going seven innings while allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out 15.

Against Litchfield, Marshall trailed 10-7 going into the final inning, but plated eight runs in the top of the seventh to earn the come-from-behind victory. Cole Felcyn led the way for Marshall with a 3 for 5 day at the plate with four RBI while Chase Douglas added three hits and three RBI and Jacobson had a pair of hits and two RBI.

Jaden Pearcy earned the victory in relief on the mound, going two innings while allowing four runs on three hits and striking out one.

Marshall will face Luverne on Thursday at 6 p.m.
