Marshall track teams hold home meet, place second

MARSHALL – After spending more than a month indoors, the Marshall boys and girls track and field team got to finally compete outside.
And what better way than to have it in front of their home fans.
The Tigers hosted a multitude of teams on Tuesday afternoon on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University, with six total teams competing in the meet. On the boys side, Marshall took second with a team score of 136.5 while Redwood Valley took first with a score of 157.5 and Pipestone Area took third with a score of 125.5. Canby/Minneota took fourth (112), Willmar took fifth (78.5) and Lakeview took sixth (51) to round out the boys side. On the girls side, Marshall also took second with a team score of 150.5, with Canby/Minneota taking first at 176.5. Redwood Valley took third with a score of 115 while Willmar (106.5), Pipestone Area (74.5) and Lakeview (40) took fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
Marshall girls coach Marie Sample said they were fortunate to be able to have a gorgeous day to hold the meet and felt their team had an overall solid performance.
“I just think the kids were so excited to have a meet outside on a beautiful day,” coach Sample said. “It was a wonderful day to compete and it’s always nice to have the home crowd to come and watch. We had some really solid performances and the kids did really well.”
Girls
Marshall
In the 4×800 meter relay, the team of Kaia Sueker, Jersey Leysen, Bellamy Sukalski and Natalee Sample took first with a time of 9:47.35, followed by the team of Allyson Sample, Miracle Tucker, Cameen McFarquhar and Kate Bucher in second (10:37.99) and the team of Lucy DeVaan, Skyla Lamfers, Beret Pedersen and Natsuki Higuchi in sixth (12:24.47).
In the 100 meter hurdles, Natasha Reinsma took second with a time of 18.40 seconds while Kaitlyn Matzner took fourth with a time of 19.36 and Morgan Hart (20.89) and Clara Bader (21.21) took seventh and eighth, respectively.
In the 100 meters, Saphi McFarquhar took second with a time of 13.88 seconds while Grace Gordon took ninth with a time of 14.98. In the 4×200 meter relay, the team of Danya Estrada, Leah Matzner, Araya Rock and Adrienne Simpson took second with a time of 1:59.24. In the 1600 meters, Sueker took second with a time of 5:38.40 while Leysen took sixth with a time of 5:56.20 and Tucker (5:56.87) and Natalee Sample (5:57.39) took seventh and eighth, respectively.
In the 4×100 meter relay, the team of Estrada, Matzner, Simpson and Saphi McFarquhar took third with a time of 55.55 seconds. In the 400 meters, Bucher took fourth with a time of 66.73 seconds. In the 300 meter hurdles, Bader took first with a time of 52.18 seconds. In the 800 meters, Mansi Bell took sixth with a time of 3:08.41. In the 200 meters, Saphi McFarquhar took third with a time of 29.46 seconds while Madelyn Murphy took 17th with a time of 32.12 seconds. In the 3200 meters, Pedersen and Lamfers took eighth and ninth with times of 15:31 and 15:38, respectively. In the 4×400 meter relay, the team of Sueker, Sukalski, Estrada and Natalee Sample took second with a time of 4:20.64.
In the high jump, Jenna Mortier tied for second with a jump of 4-09. In the pole vault, Saphi McFarquhar tied for first with height of 7-06. In the long jump, Reinsma took sixth with a jump of 15-00 while Murphy took ninth with a jump of 14-03.50. In the triple jump, Mortier took third with a jump of 32-07 while Rock took sixth with a jump of 30-10.50. In discus, Samantha Nielsen took seventh with a throw of 80-00 while Mariah Bergjord took eighth with a throw of 78-11. In shot put, Emily Meier took second with a throw of 31-11 while Nielsen took third with a throw of 29-10.
Canby/Minneota
In the 4×800 meter relay, the team of Kameron King, McKenzie Ruether, Faith Traen and Braelyn Merritt took fourth with a time of 10:48.22.
In the 100 meter hurdles, King took third with a time of 18.82 seconds while Maya Wente took fifth with a time of 19.88. In the 100 meters, Lizzy Gillingham took first with a time of 13.87 seconds while Isabelle Hennen took third with a time of 14.29 and Cassidy Hunt took fifth with a time of 14.74. In the 4×200 meter relay, the team of RyAnn Hansen, Makenzie Hemish, Delaney Houseman and Gillingham took first with a time of 1:55.79.
In the 1600 meters, Grace Drietz took first with a time of 5:19.68. In the 4×100 meter relay, the team of Cassidy Hunt, Hemish, Hannah Jelen and Houseman took fifth with a time of 56.67 seconds. In the 400 meters, Hansen and Merritt took the top two spots with times of 63.73 and 65.49 seconds, respectively. In the 300 meter hurdles, King took fourth with a time of 53.77 seconds while Aidyn Bruns took sixth with a time of 56.86 seconds. In the 800 meters, Drietz took first with a time of 2:29.37. In the 200 meters, Houseman took fourth with a time of 30.29 seconds while Hennen (30.78), Elysa Wollum (30.89) and Hunt took the 7th-9th spots, respectively.
In the 3,200 meters, Traen took third with a time of 13:13 while Ruether took fifth with a time of 13:51. In the 4×400 meter relay, the team of Hansen, Gillingham, Merritt and Drietz took first with a time of 4:15.55. In the high jump, Bruns tied for second with a jump of 4-09. In the pole vault, Houseman and Hemish tied for fifth with a height of 7-00. In the long jump, Gillingham took second with a jump of 15-10 while Hansen took fourth with a jump of 15-02. In the triple jump, Wente took fourth with a jump of 32-03 while Bruns took eighth with a jump of 29-00.50. In discus, Brynn Lozinski took 13th with a throw of 68-03. In shot put, Mackenzie Janiszeski took first with a throw of 32-08 while Mariah Hennen took fourth with a throw of 28-5.50.
Lakeview
In the 100 meter hurdles, Savannah Rausch took sixth with a time of 19.93 seconds. In the 100 meters, Leah Wymer took 10th with a time of 15.36 seconds while Brooklyn Sogge took 18th with a time of 15.67 seconds. In the 4×200 meter relay, the team of Lexy Hartle, Julia Sterner, Wymer and Payton Timm took sixth with a time of 2:08.60. In the 1600 meters, Alexis Lienemann took 11th with a time of 6:01.25 while Sadie Vlaminck took 16th with a time of 7:03.27.
In the 4×100 meter relay, the team of Paige Viaene, Timm, Trysta Schuler and Sierra Plotz took fourth with a time of 56.29 seconds. In the 300 meter hurdles, Rausch took fifth with a time of 56.27 seconds. In the 200 meters, Timm took fifth with a time of 30.74 seconds while Wymer took 18th with a time of 32.17 seconds. In the 4×400 meter relay, the team of Plotz, Lienemann, Wymer and Timm took third with a time of 4:40.30. In the high jump, Plotz took first with a jump of 5-02. In the pole vault, Rausch took third with a height of 7-06. In the long jump, Plotz took seventh with a jump of 14-10. In discus, Kelsey Taylor took 12th with a throw of 70-03. In shot put, Shelby Gravely tied for eighth with a throw of 26-07.
Boys
Marshall
Zach Matzner won the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:56.78.
Eli Salisbury placed first in the 800 at 2:05.65.
Bryce Paulsen won the 300-meter hurdles at 41.18 seconds and finished second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.88 seconds.
Josh Deines won the triple jump with a jump of 41 feet, 7.25 inches.
Yahya Black won shot put with a distance of 48-7.5 and finished second in discus with a throw of 116-5.5
Salisbury, Karter Wasberg, Matzner and Quentin Blomme won the 4×800-meter relay in 8:18.54.
The 4×200 relay team of Trevor VanKeulen, Andrew Williams, Matthew Scott and Simon Zahrbock placed second at 1:43.33.
Matzner, Jenson Meyer, Landon Wherry and Zach Devaan won the 4×400 relay in 3:35.88.
Canby/Minneota
Cole VanOverbeke, Jaden Kindopp, Jared Josephson and Carter Wente won the 4×200 relay at 1:35.67.
Blake Stoks won the 3,200 with a time of 11:15.41.
AJ Josephson placed second in the 400 at 54.39 seconds.
Lakeview
Elijah Sterner finished third in the 400 at 54.68 seconds and placed fourth in the 200 at 25.26 seconds.
Reid Bot won the discus throw with a distance of 130-2.5. He also finished third in shot put at 39-4.
