SMSU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: SMSU hosts Minot State and UMary in weekend homestand

MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s basketball team (7-8, 4-6) hosts Minot State on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the R/A Facility to kick off its weekend homestand.

•SMSU then faces UMary on Saturday at 4 p.m.

SMSU quick hits

•Last Saturday’s victory over Minnesota State marks the seventh victory for SMSU this season. It’s the first time SMSU has earned seven victories in a season since the 2010-11 season.

•SMSU swept Minnesota State for the first time in team history’s conference play.

•The last time SMSU defeated Minnesota State twice in a season was in the 1978-79 season.

•SMSU scored 15 3-pointers in the victory over MSU. Jenna Borchers and Sarah Buysse each added four 3-pointers.

•Meleah Reinhart scored her second 20-point game of the season with 22 against MSU.

•Reinhart also added a career-high five assists and six steals against MSU.

•The last time the Mustangs’ won eight games in a season was in the 2009-10 season when they earned 15.
