SMSU VOLLEYBALL: SMSU stays put at No. 7 in AVCA Top-25
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s volleyball team remained at No. 7 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches’ Association (AVCA) Top-25 poll released on Monday.
SMSU moved up last week to the No. 7 spot after falling to the No. 8 spot in a previous poll. In the latest poll, SMSU received a total of 885 points. Nebraska-Kearney (12-0 overall) continues to reign in the No. 1 spot this week with 36 first-place votes. Northern State (10-0) and Concordia-St. Paul (8-2) follow behind in the second and third spot. The other NSIC schools to make the top-25 is Minnesota Duluth (8-2) at No. 6 and Wayne State (8-2), who fell to SMSU last Saturday in five-sets, at No. 18.
SMSU was ranked No. 2 in the preseason poll and has now been ranked in the Top-25 for 165 consecutive polls, dating back to Sept. 5, 2006, and have been ranked among the Top 10 for 69 consecutive polls.
