SMSU VOLLEYBALL: SMSU Volleyball Legacy Club Announces Fundraising Campaign
MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State University volleyball program in accordance with its Legacy Club announced today the start of its inaugural matching fundraising campaign in an effort to grow the SMSU Volleyball Endowment Fund.
The campaign, which will run until the end of May 2018, is an effort to raise $40,000 that will be put towards the SMSU Volleyball Endowment Fund. The SMSU volleyball program will match dollar-for-dollar each gift given to the campaign up to $20,000. The SMSU Volleyball Endowment Fund, which has a balance of over $60,000, was established in 2015 by the volleyball program to provide annual scholarship dollars to current SMSU Volleyball student-athletes. The goal is to grow the endowment to a level in which the interest earned each year will yield one full scholarship.
Gifts can be made online by clicking the “Donate” button at the bottom of the page or by navigating to the donation website: give.smsu.edu/campaigns/volleyball-legacy-club

“The SMSU Volleyball is a program, but more importantly, a family, that I am extremely grateful for. It has molded me into who I am today, and has created memories that I will never forget. Our coaches took a chance and invested in me, not only as another player to fill the roster, but as a person. Now it is time for me to invest back and contribute to our Volleyball Legacy Club to support our current and future Mustangs, I hope you will join me in doing the same!” Sarah Jones (Graf) ’10
The SMSU Volleyball Legacy Club is a group of alumnae that was created to bring together the past, present and future of SMSU Volleyball. The Legacy Club works directly with the coaching staff to build alumni relations and is concentrating efforts to this campaign to grow the endowment fund.
“The mission of our Legacy Club is to nurture the tradition and values that come from participation in intercollegiate athletics, and to promote activities that allow any individual to support and promote any one of our 17 intercollegiate sports, Director of Athletic Development Tim Steinbach said. “Legacy Club support helps open doors for some of the most talented and deserving students to compete at SMSU.”
In addition to this campaign, the volleyball program raises money in various ways – summer camps, winter clinics, workathon, etc. – to alleviate operating budget costs but help from alumnae, former student-athletes and community members are still needed. Below is a list of volleyball expenses that are incurred each year to provide our student-athletes a quality student-athlete experience:
