MARSHALL – The Marshall youth wrestling team hosted three different tournaments featuring 28 teams from Minnesota and South Dakota throughout the weekend.

On Friday, the Tigers held the Little Southwest Conference Tournament, with Marshall’s K-6th grade team going 3-0. The Tigers defeated Willmar 37-36, Redwood Valley 53-21 and Minneota 45-21. Marshall is currently 6-0 in the Little Southwest Conference.

The Little Southwest Conference is made up of nine area teams: Marshall/Lakeview/RTR, Wabasso/RRC, KMS, TMB/WWG, Redwood Valley, Minneota, United, Quad County and BOLD.  The Conference Championship will be held on Feb. 19th at Wabasso.

On Saturday, the Marshall K-3rd grade team hosted a tournament, with 11 teams participating. The Tigers lost to Brandon Valley 58-21 and Tri-Valley 55-13 in the pool rounds. Marshall then fell in a tightly contested match to Adrian 34-32 to take 10th place in the tournament. Tri-Valley, Aberdeen and Watertown were the top three teams in the tournament, respectively.

The K-3rd grade team included: McCoy Marthaler, Jonah Lovre, Levi Kraft, Cash DePyper, Jed McChesney, Braydon Torry, Braden Nibbe, Colton Chandler, Spencer Brink, Mauer Leyson, Dawson Decamp, Connor Doeling, Isaac Roberts, Garrett Elton, Sam Regnier, Brayden Chandler, Tyler Kraft, Charlie Moline, Clayton Jones, Brennen Cullins, Ethan Mattison, Owen Priebe and Ramsey Carr.

On Sunday, the Marshall K-6th grade team hosted a 12-team tournament, with the Tigers going 2-2 on the afternoon. Marshall opened the pool rounds with a 51-16 win over Brookings before falling to Flat Earth 42-34. The Tigers then lost against Adrian 33-31 before closing out with a 37-31 comeback win over TMB/WWG to place seventh. Tea Area, Minneota and Flat Earth were the top three teams in the tournament, respectively.

The K-6 team included:  McCoy Marthaler, Lincoln Christenson, Keynan Coequyt, Landon Marthaler, Tyson Louwagie, Garett Regnier, Brayden Wixon, Aidan Mattison, Dylan Louwagie, Joshua Kraft, Matthew Her, Tate Condezo, Lukas Stelter, Anthony Lovre, Kaidin Otto, Levi Kraft, Dawson Decamp, Sean Griesse, Kannon DePyper, Carter Sutherland and Tucker Fiene.
