Sometimes you just gotta do it
It’s so easy to not do something, isn’t it?
We create numerous excuses and reasons to delay or pause that thing — that’s something we are all good at doing. Maybe that delaying tactic is found within our personalities, our habits or our humanoid genes. No matter the root of that delaying tactic, it is deeply embedded in all of us.
Of course, we have a hundred things on our plates to accomplish, and being very busy is certainly understandable. Then why is it that when our life’s schedule is less full, we still procrastinate? Is it to have some relaxation time, or … just to put it off?
Oops! Then we remember something we have to do, and that other quietly waiting thing is pushed, once again, to another day.
OK, we’ve all been there, haven’t we? Your Honor, we are all guilty! So, how do we solve this delaying conundrum? Well…
Sometimes you just gotta do it!
Pumpkin carving has always been a family tradition. Yes, it’s the same face carved on all my pumpkins, but I do it. If that’s the case, why did it take so long for me to carve a pumpkin this year? My rationale was that there’s a lot to do, and there’s still plenty of time to do that pumpkin carving.
No! Do it! Time’s up! Halloween is here! I just gotta do it.
While doing some search meandering in our local wine store, I came upon a bottle of Carnivor Cabernet Sauvignon. Hmmm…seems appropriate for this time of the year so I got it. Actually the wine is a blend of cabernet sauvignon with some Petite Sirah and merlot tossed in to give the liquid its distinct flavor and color. The flavors of toasted oak, jammy fruit and chocolate are very noticeable.
It wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be, and I’m glad I did it.
In case you haven’t noticed, things happen. You know that trip you’ve been putting off for so long? The idea is probably not going to disappear. Get out your calendar, coordinate other activities to fit in and around that trip, and get it done. From personal experience, I can tell you that things can happen that will make that very long forsaken trip an impossibility. Grab the moment, seize the initiative and get on with it — you have got to do it for peace of mind.
Speaking of peace of mind, I suggest you taste a glass of sauvignon blanc from Chateau Ste. Michelle. It’s very soft, yet crisp with mellow citrus flavors. It’s a wine to enjoy as you relax.
Along that same line of thinking, why delay trying that different beverage? Is there a wine you’ve pondered about, but, for some reason, have hesitated trying? Try it today! What other beverages have you been putting off? A tequila cocktail? A new type of tea or coffee? How about that non-alcoholic beer/wine or spirit?
Now’s the time to do it.
Don’t forget to take care of yourself. Our minds are full of stuff all the time, right? May I suggest you find a place of peace? A place where you can be alone to realign your thoughts and endeavors or to simply relax and empty your mind. Seek that place, you need it.
Along that same avenue of thought, reach out to an old friend and have a conversation with that person. Reunite over a favorite beer, glass of wine, cup of coffee, a mutually enjoyed cocktail or, heck, over a glass of water. That person is important to you for some reason — don’t ignore that urge.
Tonight I’ll reunite with an old friend called a Pineapple Cocktail. It has rum, pineapple juice and a touch of lemon juice. Very tasty! It’s been awhile, and I have to do it.
It all comes down to one phrase … don’t have regrets.
Sometimes you just gotta do it!
As always, eat and drink in moderation but laugh with reckless abandon!
Cheers!
