9-1-1 situation in Washington, D.C.

To the editor: We have to stop our president. He is on the brink of throwing us into World War 3, and it's just a bit of fun to him. He started an illegal war. The population isn't willing. The world hates us. It would be a disaster. Contact our representatives, and demand he be stopped before something truly terrible happens. • U.S. Rep. Michelle Fischbach: (202) 225-2165 https://fischbach.house.gov/contact • U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar: 202-224-3244 https://www.klobuchar.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/email-amy• • U.S. Senator Tina Smith: (202) 224-5641 ...

It takes a village

The motto, "It takes a village to raise a child" holds true in all cases. The Marshall Tiger girls (basketball team) took the third place state title on Saturday, March 14. When those girls made their way onto the court, you could see it in their eyes; they were going to take this win. I knew this was going to be an exciting game and it was. However, just as exciting was seeing the crowd that made their way to St. Paul to watch this game. They didn't have a player that was a daughter and/or granddaughter; they just showed up and cheered for them. Also, let's not forget all the ...

All the money can’t replace resources

It is very disheartening to see the future, in the form of Braxton Seifert, arguing for cheaper energy prices at the expense of clean air and potable water and good soil. Money will not replace the Earth's resources. It is only right that big corporations should be held responsible for damage they cause to our planet in the name of providing us energy. They cannot be allowed to exploit the health of all to, yes, provide us what we want as consumers, but yes, at a profit to themselves. Responsibility must be assigned to clean up the aftermath. Energy companies must be stewards of the ...

Evidence for a young earth

The 3-6-2026 ‘Triceratops skeleton…’ stated the price of a set of dinosaur bones can now bring up to $44 million, mainly due to a new shift toward objects that have “cultural resonance.” Also states the bones are 66 million years old; but are they? Recent discoveries of soft tissue in dinosaur bones tells me they were probably buried rapidly in far less than a million years ago, thereby avoiding complete tissue decay. Can any experiment show us how soft tissue lasts millions of years? Rapid burial was probably accomplished by the impact of a 6-mile diameter rock ...

SMSU staff oppose layoffs

To the editor: SMSU employees are facing job losses and essential campus services are going to be cut. AFSCME local 2385 was notified that the SMSU administration had a plan that would lay off two full-time employees, reduce another to part-time, and reduce the post office to half-day. Administration is supposed to operate in good-faith with our union by including us in the planning stages and yet new positions have already been created based on these proposals. The decision was made before conversations began. We met with administration and raised serious concerns on how these changes ...

Vote Fischbach out of office

To the Editor: What has Michelle Fischbach done for the citizens of Minnesota? We know she didn’t do anything about tariffs. Beef prices are higher than they have ever been, along with almost all groceries. She didn’t do anything about health care premiums, those have gone up 200 to 300%. Car insurance and homeowners insurance have risen almost 80%. She didn’t do anything for the farmers, when China didn’t buy a single soybean over the last 10 months. She didn’t do anything when Minnesota was over run by ICE agents, beating, kicking, dragging, pepper spraying and in more than ...
