Immigrants help make America great

To the editor: To win an election, Donald Trump needs to scare people into voting for him. He keeps telling us that America is a land in decline. People born abroad know better. Like Ronald Reagan, they see us as a “shining city on a hill.” They envy our freedom. They know we have the best economy in the world by far. The boldest of them are willing to risk everything to get here. It is true that lots of people want to enter America. Almost everything else Trump says about immigration is fictional. With his weird reference to Hannibal Lecter, he paints immigrants as zombies. If ...

Divisiveness threatens Democracy

To the editor: For the umpteenth time in the last week I’ve read a Facebook post that pits minorities, or illegals, or gays, or welfare recipients against veterans. It’s always something like “Ya’ll need to have a veterans’ month before a pride month.” I’m always a little taken aback, and even sometimes comment, “Why can’t we have them both.” In the end I guess I’d rather have them figure that out themselves, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Here’s a little news flash. Not all veterans are great patriots, and not all gays, immigrants , or even liberals ...

Increasing love, respect for Jesus

To the editor: Suppose a reasonably honest atheist researching the world’s religions comes upon the Roman Catholic religion and notes an unusually high number of scientifically unexplainable phenomena, especially Eucharistic miracles (search Lanciano). He finds out many of these events originated at Holy Mass where bread and wine are changed into Jesus (God) by Divine power given to priests. He notes that priests are trained to be very careful at the altar when handling God in the form of a bread Host, lest a particle be broken off and fall to the floor and God be stepped ...

Need fresh blood and people of strong conviction in Congress

To the Editor: We want to make sure all concerned, conservative voters in Congressional District 7 are aware of the importance of voting in the primary election on Aug. 13. Better yet vote any time before Aug. 13 at the courthouse in your county. Bring your mail-in ballot to the courthouse to ensure that it is counted. We support 33-year-old Royce White, the endorsed Republican candidate for U.S. Senate winning 67 percent of the state convention delegates’ votes on the first ballot. Steve Boyd, 39, is running against second term Michelle Fischbach for U.S. House of ...

Vote at 100% on Nov. 5

To the editor: A letter to the editor dated July 23 by Sherwin Skar read like something out of fairy tail or an MSNBC talking head. The only thing that was correct in the entire letter was the spelling of the words. The statements made by those words were an affront to something known as truth. Everyone that was alive during the four years of the Trump Administration experienced the benefits of the tax reductions, lower energy costs, lower food costs, secured retirement benefits, secure borders, a more peaceful world and overall stability. We had a good feeling about the future ...

GOP establishment helping unendorsed Fischbach

To the editor: Steve Boyd, the grassroots America First Republican conservative who is challenging establishment Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach (R-MN) in Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District primary Aug. 13, garnered enough support at the CD-7 convention in April that he was able to prevent Fischbach from earning the coveted Republican Party endorsement. Sixty percent of the delegate’s votes were needed by either of the candidates to secure the endorsement. While Boyd didn’t outright win the endorsement, preventing a sitting Congresswoman from obtaining the GOP endorsement ...
