Take a look at RTR bus routes
To the editor:
RTR School District is at 730 Students. The school board is going to tell you there is a need to spend another $20 million because we don’t have room.
Question that needs to be asked is how far out are the buses going out or willing to go out to pick up open enrolled students. The buses are going anywhere from 15-20 miles one way over our district lines to pick up open enrolled students. The school board should be looking at pickup points within the district.
If these parents were required to bring their children to our district lines, would they? Many schools in the area do require this because there is a Minnesota State Statue 124D.03. If requested non-resident school district shall provide transportation within the district.
Busing was such a HOT topic during the last bond vote. Why isn’t it now?
Why as RTR District taxpayers should I have to pay for open enrolled students to go to a new school. I have checked into what my voter approved school levy will increase and it will double.
We have room for our school district students. We built for 700 student the board has means to limit open enrollment.
