He died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2019, at the Canby Hospital in Canby.

Ed VanOverbeke was born June 10, 1938, in Minneota, to Maurice and Clara (VanWatermeulen) VanOverbeke. He grew up near Minneota and lived in the area his entire life, except 1956-1959, which he spent in the United States Army as a radar repairman while stationed in Greenland.

Ed was a skilled handyman and, particularly before computers, he could fix virtually anything. When he was not farming, Ed overhauled every car, tractor, and truck he owned. Ed married Collene Chihanski on April 20, 1963. Together they spent over 56 years of marriage together and had two girls: Lori and Stacie.

Ed’s enjoyments in life included target shooting, watching history documentaries on TV, and spending time with his many German Shepherd dogs over the years.

Blessed and eternal be his memory.

He is survived by his loving wife, Collene VanOverbeke of Taunton; daughters, Lori (and Scott) Ford of Plymouth, Stacie VanOverbeke of Mankato; granddaughter, Meredith Ford; brother, Philip (and Rosella) VanOverbeke of Marshall; other relatives and friends.

Ed was preceded in death by parents, Maurice and Clara VanOverbeke; sister, Carolyn (and Joe) Witherspoon; and nephew, Steven VanOverbeke.
