Ernest Thooft

MARSHALL — Services for Ernest H. Thooft, 81, of Marshall, formerly of Tyler, are at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler. Memorial visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., all at St. Dionysius. Burial will be in St. Eloi Catholic Cemetery in Ghent. Arrangements are provided by Hartquist Funeral Home, Utoft-Johansen Chapel in Tyler.

He died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center.

He was born to Ernest Joseph and Maria Virginia (Dobbelaere) Thooft on June 22, 1936, on a farm in Island Lake Township in Lyon County.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine “Kate” of Marshall; children, Richard of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Jerome of Moose Lake, Douglas of Hastings, Janine Rassmussen of Reedsburg, Wis., Edward of Milroy, Karen Kraemer of Chanhassen, Thomas of Cyrus, Suzanne Kirsh of Milroy, Bruce of New Prague and Scott of Lynd; 22 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Emma Delanghe of Marshall, E.R. of Tyler, Marian VanDenBroeke of Marshall, Raymond of Lynd, Mary Lanoue of Marshall and Jeanette Lanoue of Tracy.
