MARSHALL – Services for Joseph James Blanchette, 73, of Marshall, are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Marshall. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Luncheon is Saturday immediately following the service in the church basement. God showed Joe Mercy by taking him home to be with him on Monday, July 25, 2016.

Joe died peacefully at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall, surrounded by family and an abundant amount of love.

Joseph was born to Elmer and Frances Blanchette on Aug. 29, 1942, Joseph Blanchette and Carol Binnebose were united in marriage on Sept. 15, 1962.

Joe leaves behind his loving wife, Carol; daughter Karna (Phil) Dwire of Marshall, daughter Kristin (Terry) Voorhees of Apple Valley, and daughter Katie-Jo (Travis) Prill of Marshall; grandchildren Ashley (Bryan) Hedtke, Ryan (Alyssa) Voorhees, Eric Voorhees, Kayla (Brett) Baune, Kolby Janiszeski, and Emmalyn Prill; stepgrandchildren, Matt and Melanie Dwire. The first great-granddaughter is due to arrive in October 2016. Also surviving are two brothers Norbert (Bev) Blanchette of Arco, Robert (LaDonna) Blanchette of Marshall, a brother-in-law Richard Binnebose and sister in-law Eileen Binnebose, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joe retired from the City of Marshall Street Department in February of 2007. Joe was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, David Joseph and parents, Elmer and Frances.

In lieu of gifts, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Joe to the Prairie Home Hospice House.
