One injured in Hwy. 23 crash

COTTONWOOD — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 23 and Lyon County Road 10 near Cottonwood.

A 10-year-old boy from Granite Falls was taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 5:26 p.m. A 2020 Honda Pilot driven by Douglas Anthony Jans, 43, of Granite Falls, was eastbound on Highway 23 when it struck a 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII driven by Kjell David Idso, 23, of Wood Lake, that was eastbound on County Road 10, the State Patrol said.

Landry Jacob Jans, 10, a passenger in the Honda, received non life-threatening injuries and was taken to Avera Marshall, the State Patrol said.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, and Cottonwood Fire and Ambulance, also responded at the crash scene.
