Area fire departments called to hog barn fire near Ivanhoe

IVANHOE — Multiple area fire departments were called out to a fire at the Christensen hog farm near Ivanhoe on Monday night, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said. No people were injured, but a building was damaged and there were numerous injured or dead animals, said Sheriff Chad Meester.

The fire, located on property on the 2500 block of Lincoln County Highway 17, was reported at 8:49 p.m. Multiple fire departments were paged to the scene, including the Ivanhoe, Arco, Tyler, Hendricks, Lake Benton, Minneota, Porter, Taunton and Ghent Fire Departments. Lincoln/Pipestone Rural Water assisted with sourcing water for the fire departments.

Meester said Lincoln County Emergency Management, the Lincoln County Environmental Officer and the Minnesota Duty Officer were all advised of the fire.
