Two injured in car/tractor collision

GARVIN — Two Tracy residents were injured in a Saturday crash involving a Chevy Impala and a tractor pulling a planter, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 5:03 p.m. on U.S. Highway 59 north of Garvin. A Challenger farm tractor driven by Cory Lynn Staufacker, 36, of Balaton, was pulling a planter southbound on Highway 59 at the time of the crash, the State Patrol said. Staufacker attempted to turn left into a field approach, and a 2014 Chevy Impala driven by Shirley Ann Myhre, 77, of Tracy, attempted to pass the tractor as it made the turn. The two vehicles collided in the northbound lane of Highway 59, the State Patrol said.

Shirley Myhre and her passenger, Gerald John Myhre, 81, of Tracy, were both transported to Sanford Tracy Medical Center with injuries that were believed to be non life-threatening, the State Patrol said.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota DNR, the Garvin First Responders and Tracy Ambulance all responded at the crash scene.
