One injured in Sunday crash

BALATON — A Balaton woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Minnesota Highway 91 Sunday morning. The crash was reported at 11:54 a.m., south of the intersection of Highway 91 and U.S. Highway 14, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

A 2018 Buick Enclave driven by Wallace Wichmann, 79, of Balaton, and a 2000 Ford Ranger driven by a 17-year-old boy were both southbound on Highway 19 at the time of the crash, the State Patrol said. A State Patrol report said the Ranger rear-ended the Enclave. Road conditions were snowy or icy at the time, the State Patrol said.

A passenger in the Enclave, Lujean Wichmann, 79, of Balaton, was taken to the Tyler hospital with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, Balaton Fire Department and Balaton EMS all responded at the scene of the crash.
