Lyon Co. board hears Garvin Park hunting request

MARSHALL — This week, Lyon County Commissioners gave their approval for an area disability services organization to hold an accessible deer hunt in Garvin Park. The Southwestern Center for Independent Living requested that the park be closed Oct. 30-31 for the special deer hunt. The event would give people with disabilities a chance to enjoy hunting, SWCIL representatives said. Sunday crash damages Marshall PD vehicle

MARSHALL — A weekend collision involving a Marshall Police squad car and another vehicle caused “significant damage” to the squad car, but injuries were not reported, Marshall Public Safety Director Jim Marshall said Monday. More details on the crash were not available Monday. The crash was reported at 2:33 p.m. Sunday at North Fourth Street and West Redwood Street, but the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said a report on the incident is still pending. MARSHALL — Last week, the Trump administration announced it planned to halt about a quarter billion dollars in Medicaid payments to Minnesota over concerns about social services fraud in the state. But officials at Southwest Health and Human Services said it’s too soon to tell exactly how that plan might impact their clients.
