Marshall to assess unpaid fire costs

MARSHALL — The city of Marshall will be assessing costs for fire calls at three area properties to the property owners. At Tuesday’s city council meeting, Marshall City Council members held a hearing on unpaid costs for fire calls at properties in Sodus and Fairview townships.

The fire services agreement between the city and the two townships authorizes Marshall to certify unpaid fire service charges to the county auditor for collection on the owner’s property taxes.

The three properties with unpaid fire services included a property within the Marshall city limits and a property on the 2400 block of Lyon County Road 20, which would each have assessments of $1,015.00. The third property, on the 2900 block of U.S. Highway 59, would have an assessment of $2,052.84.

No members of the public made comments at the hearing. After the hearing, the city approved special assessments for the three properties.

Starting at $3.95/week.
