School Board approves hire of new MMS principal

MARSHALL — The Marshall Public School District has approved the hiring of a new principal at Marshall Middle School. At their meeting this week, members of the Marshall School Board approved a number of personnel action items, including a notice of a new contract for Peggy Reynolds as middle school principal, effective July 1.

Reynolds is currently assistant principal at MMS.

Last month, the school board voted to approve the retirement of current MMS Principal Paula Wolter Mattson, effective June 6. Wolter Mattson was hired as middle school principal in 2021.

In addition to approving Reynolds as MMS principal, school board members also approved hiring a new assistant principal to fill Reynolds’ former position. The board voted to approve a notice of a new contract for Southview Elementary teacher Bennett Appel. Appel will become assistant principal at MMS, effective July 1.
