Egg hunts, community events planned for Easter weekend

Many area residents will be celebrating Easter this weekend and community groups will be offering ways for kids and families to join in the festivities.

In places like Milroy, Easter celebrations are a community event.

The Milroy School PTO and the Milroy Lions Club will be teaming up for Easter activities on Saturday morning, said PTO member Amber Snyder.

“(The PTO) try to do something once a month to get the community out and about,” Snyder said. “We are doing some activities and games at the school at 9 a.m., and at 10 a.m. the Milroy Lions will have an egg hunt.”

In snowy years, the Easter egg hunt has moved indoors instead of being held on the Milroy school playground. But that hasn’t stopped kids from having fun, Snyder said.

“We usually have a really good turnout,” she said.

Milroy is far from the only community holding Easter events this weekend. Area churches, community groups and the Lyon County Museum are all getting into the fun. Here are some of the area festivities:

Lyon County Museum scavenger hunt

Starting today, visitors at the Lyon County Museum in Marshall can go on an Easter scavenger hunt while checking out the museum exhibits through Saturday. Scavenger hunt sheets will be available at the museum for guests to fill out, and completed sheets can be turned in at the front desk for Easter candy.

Museum hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Grace Life Easter egg hunt, Marshall

Grace Life Church in Marshall will be holding its annual Easter egg hunt between services on Easter Sunday. The egg hunt will start at 10 a.m. Sunday morning at the church. The event is open to children in grade 5 and under.

Easter Sunday events at Efree Church

The Marshall Efree Church will be holding an Easter egg hunt along with services on Easter Sunday. A continental breakfast will be held at the church at 9 a.m., with a worship service beginning at 10 a.m. and an egg hunt for kids following the service.

Tracy egg hunt

The Tracy Kiwanis Club will be hosting an Easter egg hunt Saturday at the Tracy Elementary School parking lot. The hunt starts at 10 a.m. for kids in grade 3 and under.

Community Easter egg hunt, Tyler

Community members in Tyler are planning an event with an indoor/outdoor Easter egg hunt, petting zoo and a visit from the Easter bunny. The egg hunt event starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at Avera Tyler. In addition, there will also be a citywide Golden Egg Hunt. Three golden eggs will be hidden somewhere in the city of Tyler, with riddles offering clues to their location.

Porter egg hunt

The annual Easter egg hunt in the city of Porter will be held Saturday morning at the Porter Fire Hall. The event starts at 10 a.m. sharp. Kids ages 12 and under can grab eggs, candy, and have a chance to win prizes.

Walnut Grove egg hunt

The Walnut Grove Ambulance Service will be holding an Easter egg hunt for kids Saturday morning in the Walnut Grove City Park. The event begins at 11 a.m. in the park, and is open for kids in grade 4 and under.

Redwood Falls egg hunt

An Easter meal and egg hunt will be held Saturday at the Redwood Area Community Center in Redwood Falls. Starting at 9 a.m. sharp, kids in grade 3 and under can take part in the hunt. The Redwood Senior Center will also offer brunch, with a free will donation, while supplies last. The event will also feature photos with the Easter bunny, and a bake and craft sale hosted by the Redwood Senior Center.

Clarkfield egg hunt

Staff and residents of the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield will be holding an Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
