Yellow Medicine County Board OKs agreement with BNSF
GRANITE FALLS — The Yellow Medicine County Board approved an agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation and BNSF Railway Company to install new light signals and gates at the 240th Avenue crossing on Tuesday.
The crossing is located in Minnesota Falls Township in the vicinity of Prairie’s Edge Casino and the Fagen Fighters WWII Air Museum.
The option of installing flashing light signals, gates, and warning circuitry was one of three options considered along with rebuilding the road to eliminate a skew at the crossing, or closing the crossing entirely.
Out of a total cost of $278,202 the state will cover 90% of the cost, reimbursable with Federal funds.
In other business, the board approved a Professional Service and Hosting Agreement with Counties Providing Technology (CPT) out of Morris
The agreement provides for a server for data storage, a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and an offsite disaster recovery site.
The agreement contains a provision that no confidential or private data may be released to the public by CPT without written authorization from the county.
