A slew of Santas headed out on a 1-mile walk or run through Independence Park on Friday evening. Participants in the “Run For a Claus” event each received a Santa hat and beard to wear.

Participants could take a lap around Independence Park at their own pace. While some walked the trails, others jogged or ran. Organizers said about 60 people signed up for the Run For a Claus. The event was sponsored by Prairie Home Hospice and Community Care, the Marshall Area YMCA, Light Up the Night, A.C.E. of Southwest Minnesota, and Visit Marshall. The fun run helped raise funds for Prairie Home Hospice, and for YMCA scholarships.
