MACCRAY school bus driver found dead in Tyler

TYLER — A school bus driver who was waiting for the MACCRAY High School girls basketball team was found dead on Tuesday night, Tyler Police said.

Tyler Police Chief AJ Anderson said driver Jean Waltz was found unresponsive in the school bus, which was parked on the west side of the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton School parking lot in Tyler. Waltz had been waiting on the bus during basketball games between MACCRAY and RTR, from about 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Anderson said.

Anderson said foul play was not suspected in Waltz’s death, but the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office was conducting an autopsy to determine cause of death.

Anderson said Waltz was discovered by basketball team members, who called 911. Waltz was transported to Avera Tyler Medical Center, but life-saving efforts by first responders and at the hospital were unsuccessful.
