COVID-19 death toll reaches 43 in Lyon Co.
MARSHALL — The Minnesota Department of Health reported the death of a Lyon County resident from COVID-19 on Thursday. It brings the total number of deaths among county residents to 43.
Statewide, the MDH reported 907 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, and 24 deaths. The newly reported deaths included a Lyon County resident in their 70s.
Since the start of the pandemic, Minnesota has had a total of more than 470,000 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases and 6,343 deaths. As of Thursday, a total of 3,002 Lyon County residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and 43 have died.
Although there are still new COVID-19 cases and deaths are being reported, the numbers of people hospitalized with the virus have been declining from a spike in November and December. According to the state COVID-19 response dashboard, there are 242 hospital beds occupied by COVID patients statewide, and 78 intensive care beds.
