Supporting MHS scholars

Marshall community members, parents and members of the Marshall High School class of 2019 gathered at the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University on Wednesday night for the Pride In the Tiger scholarship banquet.

“Tonight, the Pride In the Tiger Foundation honors you,” Foundation Executive Director Janel Wartner said, welcoming MHS seniors. This year, 140 graduating seniors were awarded a total of $155,950 in college scholarships supported by community members. The Pride In the Tiger Foundation has been helping to support Marshall schools and students since 1999. Students receiving scholarships were introduced one by one, and the audience got a chance to learn about their school activities and achievements, as well as their future plans for college. Hunter Smidt smiled after being called up to receive a scholarship.
