City admin search timeline set

MARSHALL — The search for a new Marshall city administrator has officially begun.

At their regular meeting Tuesday night, members of the Marshall City Council got a look at a job description for the position, as well as a more detailed timeline for the search.

Interviews with finalist candidates could tentatively be held by early October, said Gary Weiers, a consultant with the search firm of David Drown Associates.

Weiers presented council members with the job description to be posted in advertising the city administrator position, and an informational profile of Marshall, for review.

“I’m here primarily to get feedback from you,” Weiers told council members. He also gave them a tentative outline of the search process. However, he said, “There’s no need to make any decisions on that at this time.”

If the council approved, Weiers said, he could post the city administrator position today, and start the applicant review process around Aug. 23. DDA would select semifinalists for the position, and conduct video interviews and work personality profiles for each semifinalist. Finalist interviews would tentatively take place starting Oct. 2.

The council directed Weiers to go ahead with advertising the administrator position.
