True Light to present dinner theater

MARSHALL — This year’s dinner theater at True Light Christian School is treating audiences to not one, but two shows about finding the way and staying true to what you know. The True Light Christian School seventh- and eighth-graders are presenting the dinner theater show “Soul Search” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the school. SMSU 2019 fall semester dean’s list announced Southwest Minnesota State University students have been honored for achievement during the 2019 fall semester of study. There are two honors categories for the dean’s list. An undergraduate student who completes 12 or more A-F graded credits and achieves a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher earns Honors. Marshall, Minneota students do well at annual Speech Spectacular

MARSHALL — Marshall High School hosted the 20th annual Speech Spectacular speech tournament Jan. 24 and 25. The event drew 690 competitors, from 28 different schools — including several southwest Minnesota schools. Students from both the Marshall and Minneota speech teams advanced in the tournament and won awards. ISU announces fall 2019 dean’s list A total of 10,066 Iowa State University students have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the fall semester 2019 dean’s list. SMSU to add club shooting sports in 2020-21 Southwest Minnesota State University will add club shooting sports beginning in the 2020-21 academic year. The team will compete in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference with 20 other colleges and universities across Minnesota. There will be two seasons — a six-week season in the fall, and a nine-week season in the winter, according to club faculty adviser Mike Lenz, theater professor at SMSU. “The team will compete in several events — trap, skeet, five-stand and sporting clays,” said Lenz.
