SMSU Briefs for Feb. 26

SMSU RN to BSN nursing program ranked

Southwest Minnesota State University’s RN to BSN nursing program is ranked in the Top 100 of the Best Nursing Schools in the Plains by Nursingschoolalmanac.com.

Nursingschoolsalmanac.com took into account SMSU’s academic prestige, value, breadth and depth of its nursing program, and its students’ success, based primarily on the NCLEX licensure examination.

Nursing School Almanac strives to provide accurate online resources for aspiring nurses. As nursing responsibilities have changed, so have the licensing and training for these roles that empower them to find the best-suited programs and help start their careers.

In its summary about SMSU’s RN to BSN program, Nursingschoolsalmanac.com states, “The SMSU department of nursing launched a CCNE-accredited RN to BSN degree completion program in 2013. SMSU’s program allows RN’s with a current license and a two-year degree the opportunity to earn their baccalaureate degree in a fast-paced manner. The majority of the coursework is completed online, but students will still receive up to five opportunities for campus visits.”

It is the third time this year that the RN to BSN program has been honored. In September, SMSU was ranked 5th in the state for the best online RN to BSN program by TopRNtoBSN.com, and was ranked 4th in Minnesota by RegisteredNursing.org.
