PREP TRACK: Tigers begin their season in Brookings

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Marshall boys and girls track and field teams kicked off their season on Friday in the Ruth Marske Invitational on the campus of South Dakota State University. The Tigers finished tied for 15th with a score of 12 on the girls side while the boys team finished in fifth with a score of 39. Brandon Valley (S.D.) took first on the girls side with a score of 106.50 while Watertown took first on the boys side with a score of 111.
Girls
In the long jump, Natasha Reinsma tied for 11th with a jump of 14-03 while Danya Estrada tied for 29th with a jump of 12-10 and Morgan Hart took 35th with a jump of 12-07. In the high jump, Jenna Mortier tied for 10th with a jump of 4-08 while Amber Tholen tied for 27th with a jump of 4-04. In the shot put, Emily Meier took seventh with a throw of 32-02 while Sam Nielsen took 29th with a throw of 26-07 and Reinsma tied for 30th with a throw of 26-06.
In the pole vault, Saphi McFarquhar took ninth with a height of 7-06. In the triple jump, Adrienne Simpson took 10th with a jump of 27-06 while Hart took 13th with a jump of 26-04. In the 4×800-meter relay, the team of Kaia Sueker, Jersey Leysen, Bellamy Sukalski and Kate Bucher took second with a time of 10:17. In the 100 meter hurdles, Reinsma took ninth with a time of 18.12 seconds while Kaitlyn Matzner took 22nd with a time of 19.84 seconds and Maddie Rowe took 41st with a time of 23.36 seconds.
In the 100 meter dash, McFarquhar tied for 14th with a time of 13.81 seconds while Grace Gordon (16.32) and Keanna Popowski (16.64) took 68th and 69th, respectively, and Annarita Calasso took 72nd with a time of 17.93 seconds. In the 1600 meter run, Mansi Bell took 35th with a time of 7:14.45 while Sydney Brandt (7:17.86) and Natsuki Higuchi (7:33.53) took 37th and 38th, respectively.
In the 800 meters, Allyson Sample took 21st with a time of 2:46.69 while Cameen McFarquhar took 37th with a time of 2:57.19 and Bell took 45th with a time of 3:05.75. In the 200 meters, Saphi McFarquhar took 15th with a time of 29.40 seconds and Simpson took 33rd with a time of 30.71 seconds. Finally, in the 4×400-meter relay, the team of Bucher, Sukalski, Leysen and Maysa Gillingham took seventh with a time of 4:28.32.
Boys
In the long jump, Matthew Scott took 39th with a jump of 15-04 while Bryce Paulsen took seventh in the triple jump with a jump of 36-10 3/4. In the shot put, Yahya Black took third with a throw of 48-02 while Josue Guerrero took 34th with a throw of 36-04 and Gabe Sherman took 47th with a throw of 32-06 1/4.
In the 4×800-meter relay, the team of Nick Kayser, Karter Wasberg, Eli Salisbury and Jenson Meyer took fifth with a time of 8:47.99. In the 110-meter hurdles, Paulsen took fourth with a time of 15.71. In the 100 meters, Scott took 61st with a time of 13.09 seconds while Evan Njemanze took 63rd with a time of 13.12 seconds, Bryant Paulsen took 67th with a time of 13.34 seconds and Trevor VanKeulen took 72nd with a time of 13.56 seconds.
In the 1600 meters, Zach Matzner took first with a time of 4:51.18 while Brett VanKeulen took 42nd with a time of 5:59.40. In the 4×100-meter relay, the team of Gabe Rodriguez, Isaac Correa, Bryan Esparza and Ivan Celedon took 19th with a time of 53.34 seconds. In the 400 meters, Meyer took 33rd with a time of 59.45 seconds while Damian Caron took 39th with a time of 1:00.30 and Daniel Olin took 45th with a time of 1:04.41.
In the 300 meter hurdles, Paulsen took third with a time of 41.39 seconds. In the 800 meters, Quentin Blomme took third with a time of 2:05.34 while Zach DeVaan took 12th with a time of 2:11.77 and Trey Weber took 48th with a time of 2:39.35. In the 200 meters, Grant Hoff took 23rd with a time of 24.97 while DeVaan took 37th with a time of 25.85 seconds and Scott took 54th with a time of 28.74 seconds. In the 3200 meters, Jordan Graupmann took 39th with a time of 14:19.95. Finally, in the 4×400-meter relay, the team of Hoff, Josh Deines, Blomme and Bryant Paulsen took 15th with a time of 3:51.65.
Marshall will compete next on April 2 in Fairmont and Mankato.
