SMSU VOLLEYBALL: Mustangs move up two spots to No. 10 in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s volleyball team advanced to the No. 10 spot in the latest AVCA poll announced on Monday afternoon.

SMSU (12-5, 7-2 NSIC) went undefeated last week with two sweeps over Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State.

Taylor Reiss was named the AVCA DII National Player of the Week and NSIC Offensive Player of the Week after her performances in the four-set victory against Minnesota State and five-set loss to Concordia-St. Paul where Reiss led the conference with 60 kills, she averaged 6.67 kills per set, and hit .379 in the two matches.

SMSU moved down to the No. 12 spot last week after holding the No. 10 spot previously this season.

Fellow NSIC competition, Northern State, is ranked No. 2 after defeating the previously ranked No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul last week in five sets. Concordia-St. Paul dropped to No. 3 while Cal State Bernardino moved to the No. 1 spot after earning 28 first place votes.

Southwest Minnesota State is slated to face Minnesota Duluth on Friday, who maintained its No. 5 spot in this week’s poll.

SMSU (12-5, 7-2 NSIC) hosts Minnesota Duluth (14-3, 8-1 NSIC) on Friday at 6 p.m. and St. Cloud State (10-5, 6-3 NSIC) on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the PE Gym.
