AREA VOLLEYBALL: Canby’s Pederson, TMB’s Lanoue and Kirk compete at MVCA All-Star match

MARSHALL – Three area athletes competed in the 2018 Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association All-Star Match on Wednesday, held at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School.
Players were divided into three teams, with each team playing a pair of best-of-three-set matches. The All-Star Match was a part of the MNVBCA Clinic.
Canby graduate Abbey Pederson played on the White Team, finishing the two matches with eight kills, 11 digs and 17 set assists. Former Canby volleyball coach Amy Wagner was one of the coaches on the White Team.
Pederson will be on the University of South Dakota volleyball team this fall.
Sydney Lanoue and Kaylee Kirk of Tracy-Milroy-Balaton both participated on the Red Team, going 2-0 on the day. Kirk finished the pair of wins with 26 digs.
Lanoue was given the 2018 Lindi Fogelberg Award as the All-Star Match most valuable player. She finished with 28 kills and 17 digs.
Kirk will play volleyball at Dakota Wesleyan University this fall, while Lanoue will be on the volleyball team for the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
A pair of future Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs also competed at the event. Lexi Ferrell of Luverne recorded nine kills, three blocks and three digs for the Red Team, while Caledonia graduate Madisyn Heaney had seven kills and two digs for the White Team.
