SMSU GOLF: Mustangs open spring season in Vegas with third place finish

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s golf team opened the spring portion of its 2017-18 season today with a third place finish at the Maverick Spring Invite hosted by Minnesota State at Mountain Course at Angel Park.

After a solid front nine, SMSU struggled on the back nine and finished with a score of 359. Minnesota State won the triangular with a 336, followed by Winona State at 357.

Ashley Bixby and Lauren Kerr each finished with rounds of 86, while Hannah Kohls finished with a 90, and Sydney O’Brien at 97. Christian Collins carded a 98, while Hallie Will shot a 101 to round out SMSU’s scores.

Southwest Minnesota State returns to the court on Friday and Saturday for the Minot State Beaver Invite played at Aliante Golf Club in Las Vegas.
