PREP BASKETBALL: Tomahawk Conference announces its All-Conference boys and girls basketball teams

MARSHALL - The Tomahawk Conference recently announced its All-Conference teams for boys and girls basketball, and a few area players made the list.
For boys basketball, Tony Franta led the way for Wabasso as the Rabbits' lone representative. Joining him is Isaac Fink, Decker Scheffler and Tanner Vogel (Springfield), Nathan Hauser and Jon Zinniel (New Ulm Cathedral), Dylan Hillesheim and Lewis Pendleton (Cedar Mountain/Comfrey), Jake Kettner (Minnesota Valley Lutheran), Zach Haala (Sleepy Eye) and Trent Weispfennig (Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart).
On the boys basketball honorable mention team are Mitchell Buerkle (Springfield), James Gillis and Alex Hillesheim (New Ulm Cathedral), Eli Samuelson (CM/C), Jace Marotz (MVL), Ben Laffen (Sleepy Eye) and Kyle Huiras (Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop).
Fink was named Player of the Year while Springfield's Lance Larson was named Coach of the Year.
For girls basketball, Jenna Frank and Madison Guetter led the way for Wabasso. Joining them are Madison Heiderscheidt and Brianna Polesky (Sleepy Eye), Emily Heimkes (Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop), Abby Jemmings and Taylor Rose (Cedar Mountain/Comfrey), Jody Hansen (Sleepy Eye St. Mary's), Sydney Hauger (Springfield), Rose Hazuka (New Ulm Cathedral) and Sara Kottke (Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart).
On the girls basketball honorable mention team are Sarah Ibarra and Mya Ibberson (Sleepy Eye), Maddy Elder (Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop), Madison Mathiowetz and Sydney Windschitl (Sleepy Eye St. Mary's) and Emma Nelson and Lauren Paulsen (Minnesota Valley Lutheran).
Heiderscheidt was named Player of the Year while Ryan Hulke of Sleepy Eye was named Coach of the Year.
