PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Minneota rolls by Adrian Area, 55-21

MINNEOTA — Minneota opened team section tournament play with a 55-21 win over Adrian Area on Thursday.

The No. 1 seed in Section 3A and the No. 8-ranked team in Class A, Minneota recorded six pins in the victory.

Eric Carrasco got things started by pinning Breyer Hieronimus in the first period at 106. Kade Lozinski added the team’s second pin at 120, followed by a pin by Teddy Pesch at 132.

Cole VanOverbeke recorded a pin in the 152 bout.

Josh Laleman and Shawn Buysse added consecutive pins at 182 and 195.

Minneota will wrestle No. 5 seed Jackson County Central on Saturday in Windom.

LAMBERTON — Jackson County Central defeated Wabasso/Red Rock Central 38-33 on Thursday in Section 3A Team Tournament action.

The Bobcats recorded four pins in the loss.

Jared Schroepfer pinned Cole Kapplinger at 152. At 170, it was Lance Wagner with a takedown of Eli Edlin. Nick Altermatt followed in the next bout by pinning Sam Dunker.

Isaac Schmiesing recorded the last W/RRC pin at 220, taking down Prestin Mix.

The Section 3A Individual Tournament begins Feb. 23 in Pipestone.

TMB/WWG 52, Windom/MLA 15

TRACY – The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westrbrook-Walnut-Grove wrestling team began its Section 3A team tournament play with a 52-15 win over Windom/Mountain Lake Area on Thursday.

Dereck Ellingson won by decision while Austin Axford, Nash Mayer, Jace Paplow, Austin Buchholz, Tyler Timm and Sam Bauer each picked up pins for TMB/WWG, who will face Canby at 12:30 on Saturday in the next round.
