The confident woman

ave you ever wondered where that female executive gets her poised demeanor, that confident stride?

Conferences.

Conferences can help women achieve their goals, including gaining more self-confidence.

Attending the Beth Moore simulcast Saturday reminded me of all the Mary Kay and Joyce Meier conferences I have attended in the past. They are designed to renew the minds and refresh the souls of women from various walks of life and give them the confidence to not just live life but to take control and make a difference.

Joyce Meier has a book out called “The Confident Woman.” It is one of several of her books in my personal library. (It’s time for a refresher read, too.) Meier also has two Christian network television shows on how to Enjoy Every Day Life and get Everyday Answers.

Beth Moore has several Bible study books out to encourage women to walk more closely with God, to lean on Him and to gain strength from Him. Moore does annual simulcasts to share her enthusiasm and relationship with Jesus with others.

Mary Kay has a couple of books out, too, in which she repeatedly wrote, “You can do it!” Everybody needs a cheerleader, why not someone famous?

Terri Savelle Foy used to be a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader, and now she has a great TV show, Live Your Dreams, books and CDs to share. She’ll be your cheerleader, too!

Sometimes the men in our lives don’t understand why we would spend money to go to these conferences or buy these motivational materials.

It would be a waste of money and time if we never put to use anything we learn from the conferences or the reading material. However, most of us return home with a renewed sense of purpose.

It should be evident that we are at greater peace or filled with more determination and motivation than ever before. For this alone, anyone in our close circle should be grateful.

These conferences give us that extra inspiration and encouragement to fight the good fight against depression, the feeling of failure and/or a myriad of other negative feelings, thoughts or actions.

It’s called “investing in ourselves.” And it is worth it. We are worth it.

It’s like that old proverb that likens individuals to a pitcher of water next to several glasses representing our family, job, friends, church, organizations/clubs and so forth. When we pour from our reservoir of energy, love and time, we eventually run out. We need to be refilled before we can continue to serve others.

That is what motivational speakers do, whether it is at a conference, on a video or CD. Energetic speakers like Beth Moore, Joyce Meier, Mary Kay (and national sales directors) and Terri Savelle Foy transmit that energy, excitement and enthusiasm to their viewers and help them be better versions of themselves by helping them set goals and do regular self-evaluations to improve their efforts. And also to find rest and peace in God.

We should all want that for ourselves as well as for others. Then we can all be confident in what we do in life.
