LAC QUI PARLE COUNTY – A Madison Township couple was found dead Wednesday morning in a murder/suicide, the Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office said.
At 8 a.m. Wednesday, the Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office was requested to do a welfare check at the William and Shelley Walley residence located in Madison Township in Lac qui Parle County.
At the residence, deputies found the bodies of William Clement Walley, 78, and his wife, Shelley Boone Walley, 69, who had been shot to death in their living room, the sheriff’s office said. The crime scene was processed, and the bodies were transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, the sheriff’s office said.
The investigation revealed that the deaths were that of a homicide/suicide, the sheriff’s office said. Preliminary investigation indicates that William Walley used a shotgun and shot his wife, Shelley, and then turned a shotgun on himself and took his own life, the sheriff’s office said.
The Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are continuing with their investigation.
