SMSU recognized for providing value to international students

MARSHALL — Southwest Minnesota State University has been ranked in three separate categories relating to quality international student programs by College Factual, a platform that helps parents and students find the right college or university using reviews, national rankings and match technology.

SMSU was ranked No. 12 in the U.S. for Best Value for Students from Taiwan. College Factual analyzed 333 colleges and universities for this category.

In the Best Value for Students from Nepal category, SMSU was ranked No. 22 in the U.S. out of 335 colleges and universities.

SMSU was listed at No. 25 in Best Value for Students from Nigeria, out of 408 higher education institutions analyzed for this category.

Factors considered in the ranking include the popularity of the college for students from each country, the quality of the programs provided, and the presence of other international students on campus.

“These rankings validate that SMSU offers a high-quality education at an affordable price to our valued international population. We education students to meet the complex challenges off this century in a diverse, inclusive environment,” said SMSU President Dr. Connie J. Gores.

There are nearly 200 international students from 27 countries currently studying at SMSU. The countries of Nepal, Taiwan and Nigeria have the largest international student populations at SMSU.
