BLOOMINGTON -- Dean Lensing, age 70, of Bloomington, MN, died peacefully surrounded by family on Monday August 17th, 2026, at Our Lady of Peace Hospice House in St Paul. Services will be held at St Edwards Catholic Church in Bloomington on August 25th with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and the service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
Dean Harold Lensing was born on November 26th, 1955, to Harold and Phyllis (Rue) Lensing in Redwood Falls, Minnesota
Dean attended elementary and middle schools in Russell Minnesota. He then went to Crosier Seminary in Onamia, MN graduating in 1975 with a high school diploma. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Winona, graduating in 1979. He then went on to the St. Paul Seminary and was ordained a priest in 1983 at Saint Dionysius Church in Tyler, Minnesota.
Dean served The Diocese of New Ulm from 1983 to 1995 which included the Parishes of Ivanhoe, Wilno, Granite Falls, and Clara City. In 1996 he started working at Catholic Cemeteries as Family Service Counselor, he worked there for 24 years. Retiring in 2020.
After retirement, Dean spent his Winters in Texas and Florida. Dean enjoyed being outside sitting on the sundeck at his apartment, music, traveling, playing cards, capturing nature's beauty with his camera, visiting with friends, and most importantly his family and friends. Dean had an infectious laugh that we will always remember.
Dean loved to come back home to the Russell area for Holiday gatherings and seeing family. After he found out he had cancer, he took a trip to Portugal with his good friend Mark to see Theo, another good friend. Dean recently celebrated his 50th high school class reunion. He was so happy that he was able to go.
Dean is survived by brother Roger (Lois) Lensing – Porter MN, sister Mary Lou (Allen) Lovejoy -Mounds view MN, sister Lois VanKeulen – Marshall MN, brother Bob (Mary) Lensing – Balaton MN, sister Jo Lensing (Sue) – Cold Spring MN, sister Vicki (Jim) VanDamme – Lynd MN ,sister Julie Parulski (Bob) – Ivanhoe MN , Mark (Nancy) Lensing – St. James MN , Uncle Dennis (Pat) Rue, many nieces, nephews, and friend Mario.
Preceded in death by parents Harold and Phyllis, sister Jan Lensing, brother Dale Lensing, brother-in-law Jim Vankeulen, and special friend Joe Wilson.
