Arlyss Jean Jensen was born on April 10, 1948, in Tyler, Minnesota. She was the daughter of John and Betty (Ness) Jensen. Arlyss grew up in Minneota, attended school there, and graduated with the high school class of 1966. Soon after high school, she began dating her neighbor, Mr. Lennis “Lenny” Hovland.
