Fatal crash reported in Murray County
CURRIE — A fatal crash was reported Monday morning on U.S. Highway 59 west of Currie, the Minnesota State Patrol said. A State Patrol report did not identify the driver of a semi truck involved in the crash, but said he was a 58-year-old man from Minneota. Further crash details would be released Tuesday, the State Patrol said.
A 61-year-old Tyler man was also taken to Sanford Sioux Falls with life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.
The crash was reported at 7:27 a.m., near the intersection of Highway 59 and 156th Street in Mason Township, Murray County. A 2014 Freightliner semi driven by the Minneota man was northbound on Highway 59, and a 2022 International straight truck driven by Michael Arthur Griffin of Tyler was southbound when the two vehicles collided, the State Patrol said.
Road conditions were snowy or icy at the time of the crash, the State Patrol said.
The State Patrol said more information on the Freightliner driver would be released on Dec. 23. Griffin was taken to Sioux Falls with life-threatening injuries.
The Murray County Sheriff’s Office, Slayton Fire Department, Murray County Ambulance and Currie First Responders all responded at the crash scene.
